Always Time to Train

Are you one of those people that “never has time to train” because you work and/or you have kids or you are just soooo busy every day? If you answered yes then this article is aimed at you.

I hear it a lot that “I haven’t had time this week” or “I just don’t have the time to train” but it’s not always about having time but making time to train. Being a full time Personal Trainer my working day starts at 8.30am and finishes around 10pm each day. This obviously takes away a lot of time that I can train myself in the week, so I have to make the commitment every morning to set my alarm for 5.20am and my wife and I get up and smash out our own sessions before breakfast. This is obviously hard work, but I have goals just like everyone else and without making that time before work I would never train myself.

Steven Thompson our News Editor is currently undergoing a 12 week intense training and diet programme to see if it’s possible to work a full time job and get fit and healthy at the same time. So far so good, he’s not missing sessions due to work commitments and he is still eating great each week, so watch this space and keep following Steve with his transformation and see again that it’s not about having time but making time, no matter what your daily life looks like.

Workouts don’t have to last a full hour too, or even be in a gym. My own sessions can be anything from 20-40 minutes long and all done in my garden and believe me at the end of each one, I am exhausted!!

As I have mentioned in previous articles, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is one of the most effective fat burning, muscle gaining workouts you can get. A HIIT workout is where you work as hard as you can for short bursts of time, using different exercises that can even be done in your living room and a workout can be anything from 4 minutes upwards. HIIT workouts, if done correctly, can melt away unwanted fat and build muscle tone so if you are always short of time then these are the workouts for you.

The point I’m trying to make is that no matter how busy you are, there’s always an opportunity for you to train; 5 minutes of Pushups, situps and squats is better than nothing and if you are serious about hitting your fitness targets then every little bit helps.
