Group Training

For those that don’t know much about me, I’m a local personal trainer. I have specialist areas and I train people at homes, gardens and in gyms. I also train people in groups. These vary from husband and wife, to a group of teachers after school to a group of friends getting ready for their summer holiday away together. Training with a group in a class, Bootcamp or PT session comes with a whole host of training benefits.

If you work out with friends, accountability is a great motivator. If you don't show up, you'll be letting someone else down. Encouragement from an instructor or your workout partners can be a key factor in keeping you on track too. This can also then follow onto your eating and drinking behaviours. If you are all focusing on similar end goals you can keep each other going when you are finding it hard to resist that bottle of wine or bar of chocolate. Setting up groups on social media monitoring your progress is great fun and a great motivational tool to use in your group.

Another benefit is the social aspect of group exercise. You can make friends with similar interests and you'll even remember their names because you haven't been drinking! I've been doing my classes for a couple of years now and when people arrive early they have a chat with other classmates and catch up with what they’ve been doing since the last class.

At a time when money is still very hard to part with, especially for hobbies and favourite past times sharing the cost of personal training with friends can be a huge advantage. There’s no extra cost just because there’s a few of you, so you’ll be still getting that personal training session but for a much lower price.

For me, the most important reason to train in a group is because it's fun.
You'll laugh, you'll sweat, you’ll work hard and in no time you'll be finished and feeling ready to face the world. Whether it's a hard core Bootcamp or a brisk morning walk, it's definitely more fun when you work out together.
