Herbal tea

I love a good cup of coffee, but sometimes there’s nothing better than a nice hot cup of herbal tea. Besides it being tasty and caffeine free, drinking herbal tea has a huge amount of health benefits too. Herbal tea isn’t really made from tea—which is a specific kind of plant. Herbal tea is really just an infusion of leaves, seeds, roots or bark, extracted in hot water. In drinking a well-steeped herbal tea (sometimes leaving it 10-15 minutes), we get all the plant’s benefits in an easily digestible form.

When choosing any herbal tea, go for a well sourced product with good quality ingredients, and if it’s an option go organic.

My favourite is peppermint tea; the main reason for me drinking it after my evening meal or just before bed is that it works fantastic on helping the digestion of your food. Not only this, it is sometimes called the “stomach healer” of drinks as it helps to ease any stomach aches and cramps you may get and also cuts the chances of heartburn down too.

Green tea is another great herbal tea. It is packed with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. This includes improved brain function, a lower risk of cancer and can even help you lose weight. If you look at the ingredients list for any fat burning supplement, chances are that green tea will be on there. This is because green tea has been shown to increase fat burning and boost the metabolic rate. So if you haven’t tried herbal tea yet, now’s the time to give it a go and benefit from a tasty beverage packed full of goodness and health benefits.
